Graveside services for Floyd Poer, 88, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Plainview Cemetery.
Burial arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mr. Poer died Sunday, May 23, 1999, in Murray, Utah.
He was born Aug. 3, 1910, in Stephens County, the son of the late Bill and Mary Poer. He moved in a covered wagon with his parents to Plainview in 1914. He grew up in Plainview where he attended schools.
He owned O.K. Drug Store from 1935-1943 and served on the Plainview City Council in 1939. In the late 1960s, he received an award from the City of Plainview as the youngest person to have served, up to that time, on the city council.
He received the Willbarger County Outstanding Conservation Award in 1967. He had lived in Plainview, Lubbock, Vernon and Shamrock and farmed and ranched in many Texas counties.
He had been a member of the Plainview Lions Club and was a Methodist.
On Dec. 24, 1932, he married Vira Lee Hamilton in Plainview. She died Jan. 9, 1986.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat Hall of Vernon and Martha Wood of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren, Tiffany Lytle of Heber, Utah, Bart Hall of Fort Worth and Fritz Wood of Bozeman, Mont.
A sister, Thelma Poer, is deceased.
