Obituary

Memorial services for Billy Edward Pitts, 70, were at 2 p.m. today at Bethel Baptist Church with his nephew, Larry Hinsley, officiating. Arrangements were by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Pitts died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at his residence. He was born Jan. 13, 1938, in Alva, Okla., to Willard and Laura Ging Pitts. He married Vesta Lee Hinsly on July 8, 1959. He moved to Plainview in 1971. He worked in road construction until his retirement in 1989. Survivors include his wife; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Billy Lee and Sharon Pitts of Plainview and Edward Lee and Sheila Pitts of Post; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Laura and Larry Bennett of Midlothian and Lela and Elton Ratliff of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. His parents and one grandchild are deceased. The family suggests memorials in Billy's name to Area Community Hospice, 3109 Olton Road, Suite C., Plainview, TX 79072.
