Obituary

Janie Pillow, 85, went to be with the Lord. She was a resident of Amarillo for many years. Daughter of Sam and Virgie Box, she was born March 6, 1925, in the Liberty community in Floyd County. She grew up in Lockney. On June 9, 1942, she married Vernon Pillow of Plainview. They had one daughter, Vicke Lynn Pillow Love, born on Aug. 15, 1952. They lived together in Plainview for many years where they ran a water well drilling business. They moved to Amarillo in 1970 to continue their business. Her hobbies included reading, quilting and loving on her cat, Snowball. She was not only a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, but a wonderful aunt, friend and confidant. She will be lovingly missed by all those who knew her. Janie is survived by her granddaughter, Keisha Stepp, and son-in-law, Sammy Love, of Amarillo; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Patsy Box of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Jonell Sims of Friona, Sammie Patterson of Plainview and Margaret Brown of Brownfield; two great-grandsons, Dillon Gooch and Gabriel Lopez; and many nieces and nephews. Janie is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Pillow; daughter, Vicke Love; her parents Sam and Virgie Box; brothers, Dean Box and Gene Box; and sisters, Mary Baskin, Winnie Smith, Jewel Box and Bonnie Box. Graveside services will be held at noon Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview.
