Graveside services for Vernon Pillow, 89, formerly of Plainview, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Pillow died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at the V.A. Medical Center in Amarillo. He was born April 12, 1919, in Vernon to Lawrence and Henrietta Pillow. His family moved to Plainview in 1928. He worked for Harvest Queen Mill for several years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He began the Vernon Pillow Well Service Company in 1965. He married Janie Box on June 9, 1942, in Plainview. They moved to Amarillo in 1972 and he continued in the well service industry until his retirement in 1988. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Janie of Amarillo; one daughter, Vicke Love and husband Sammy of Amarillo; one sister, Fannie Pillow of Lubbock; and one granddaughter. His parents; one brother, John Pillow; and three sisters, Clara Towns, Della Pillow and Ethel Pillow, are deceased.
