Obituary

Funeral services for Opal Pierson, 76, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Southside Assembly of God with the Rev. Mark Carter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Strip Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Miss Pierson died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, in Prairie House Living Center. She was born June 20, 1926, in Abernathy. She grew up in Petersburg where she graduated from high school in 1944. She moved to Plainview in 1965 and taught at Southwest Business College for 15 years. She was a member of Southside Assembly of God where she taught Sunday school and was church secretary for many years. Survivors include three brothers, Walter Pierson of Dumas, Dee Pierson of Bovina and Virgal Pierson of Petersburg; four sisters, Stella Mae Helms of Abernathy, Cortez Breeding of Prescott, Ariz., Ethel Pierson of Lubbock and Hulda Caroline Pierson of Plainview; and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Joe William Pierson, Elmer Pierson and Billy Clayton Pierson, are deceased.
