Hulda Pierson, 84, of Plainview passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Bob Pierson officiating. Burial will follow in Strip Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Hulda was born Aug. 21, 1928, to W.I. and Ella Pierson in Hale County. She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1946. She worked at Hubbard Pawn Shop. She and a sister, Opal, owned and operated a business school. She later retired from United Farms. Hulda taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday school, lead Peanut Choir, wrote and directed numerous Christmas programs, authored children's books and touched many lives. She selflessly cared for her parents, allowing them both to spend their last days at home. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Elmer, Joe, D.W., Bill, Walter and Virgal; and three sisters, Cortez Breeding, Ethel Pierson and Opal Pierson. She is survived by one sister, Stella Helms of Abernathy; two sisters-in-law, Alma Pierson of Bovina, Texas, and Delores Bevill of Plainview; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Prior to her illness, Hulda frequently spent her time visiting patients at Prairie House. In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory by taking time to go by some extended care facility and telling someone that they are special to you and that you care.
