Obituary

Funeral services for Norris Dwayne Philpott, 66, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Plainview Family Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Shawn Fouts, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Center Plains Cemetery at Cotton Center by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home.

Mr. Philpott died Saturday, April 28, 2001, in Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 23, 1934, in Childress. He served with the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War and was a member of Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He was a 20-year member of IOOF Lodge and was a key supporter of Boy Scout Troop 250.

He married Latrice Whitten on Jan. 27, 1961, in Childress.

Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Cory and Amber Philpott of Lubbock; a brother, Dean Philpott of Cedar Hill; and a grandson, Dylan Philpott of Plainview.

A sister, Dianna Carpenter, is deceased.

Pallbearers will be Darvin Nelson, Joe Sweeney, David Fondren, R.L. Gandy, Luther Foust, Ray Wyatt, Mike Levens, Rick Zinn, John Castillo, Mark Roth, Rusty Rogers, Raymond Barron and Charles Bechtold.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
