Obituary

Norman Glynn Phillips, 90, of Plainview passed away on April 1, 2014, in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, in the Kornerstone Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Brunson officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Glynn was born on Dec. 8, 1923, in Kerens, Texas to Orban and Lovey Phillips. He attended school and graduated from Amherst High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he farmed and then worked for the Post Office for several years. He also drove a taxi cab for a while. He went to work for Ring Around and worked in seed research for 20 years before retiring. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the VFW, and he was a Baptist. Glynn was preceded in death by Vera Phillips and Wilma Phillips and two children, Sharon Phillips and Ronnie Phillips. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Crosby and husband DeWitt of Plainview, Karen Hutson and husband David of Dimmitt; one son, Joseph Phillips of Carrollton; stepchildren Dr. Derrell Monday of Vernon, Travis Monday of San Angelo and Teressa Oldfather of Lincoln, Neb.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and many step-grandchildren.
