Graveside services for Houston Phillips, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Plainview Memorial Park with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mr. Phillips died Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Lubbock.
He was born Nov. 26, 1919, in Tipton, Okla. He grew up in Carnegie, Okla., and moved to Hale County in 1944. He farmed in the Happy Union and Halfway communities and lived in Plainview for 45 years.
He was named Conservationist of the Year in 1964 by the Hale County ASCS office.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and a former supporter of the Senior Citizens Center.
On June 11, 1941, he married Edith Stair in Pleasanton. She died Dec. 2, 2000.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Ronald H. Phillips of Lubbock; two daughters, Gayle Wesley and Karen Pelphrey, both of Lubbock; a sister, Evelyn Lou Phillips Horton of Fort Worth; a brother, Adrion J. Phillips of Plainview; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Lemons Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until service time.
