Obituary

Graveside services for Juanita E. Phillips, 85, of Abernathy will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Abernathy Cemetery with the Rev. John Lowrie and Steve Gauntt officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.

She died Friday, April 19, 2002.

She was born Feb. 18, 1917, in Fort Sumner, N.M. She married Carl Phillips on July 5, 1947, in Lubbock. He died June 14, 2001. She moved to Abernathy in 1947 from Lubbock. She and her husband co-owned and operated the Phillips 66 in Abernathy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Jerry Dell Oswalt of Abernathy; one stepdaughter, Vanessa Jones of Stockton, Calif.; two sisters, Dorothy Williamson of Plano and Doris Crump of Phoenix; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Abernathy Cemetery Association.
