Phillips, Carl F.

Graveside services for Carl Phillips, 86, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Abernathy Cemetery with Jeff Petillo of First Baptist Church officiating.

Arrangements are by Abell Funeral Home.

Mr. Phillips died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born on May 28, 1915 in Fedora, S.D. He moved to Abernathy in 1916 and was owner of 66 Butane until retiring in 1965. He also was a rancher and farmer.

He was a member of first Baptist Church.

On July 5, 1947, he married Juanita Harvey in Lubbock.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jerry Dell Oswalt of Abernathy and Vanessa Jones of Stockton, Calif.; one brother, Virgil Philips of Plainview; one sister, Helen Taylor of Marble Falls; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials to Abernathy Cemetery or to a favorite charity.
