Obituary

Services for Winnie Phillips, 81, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Abernathy with Rev. John Lowrie officiating.Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Phillips died Friday, March 28, 2003, at BSA Hospice in Amarillo. She was born on October 26, 1921, in Erath County. She married Bryan Phillips on April 22,1940, in Abernathy. He died in 1980. She was a resident of the Abernathy community for 61 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, B.W. Phillips of Lake Brownwood and Gary Phillips of Lubbock; a daughter, Barbara Watson of Amarillo; a brother, Earl J. Jones, and two sisters, Connie Moore and Gertrude Babkowski, all of Stephenville; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to Abernathy Cemetery, FBC Building Fund or BSA Hospice of Amarillo.
