Obituary

Graveside services for Gladys Phelps, 90, were at 2 p.m. today in Plainview Cemetery with Rex Delong and Stan Fowler of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Joe Longoria officiating. Burial arrangements were by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Phelps died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in El Paso. She was born Aug. 3, 1911, in Georgetown, Idaho, where she grew up and attended schools. She moved to Lubbock in 1930 and to Plainview in 1936. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was a member of the relief society. On Feb. 14, 1931, she married Edgar Phelps. He died April 5, 1970. Survivors include one daughter, Marjean Jackson of El Paso; three sons, Leo Phelps of Garland, Sherman Phelps of Garland and Donald Phelps of North Richland Hills; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Visiting Nurses Association of Hospice of El Paso.
