Grigsby, James Edward,Jr.

James Edward Grigsby Jr. was born Oct. 8, 1928, in Albuquerque, N.M., to James Edward and Agnes Grigsby and died July 13, 2013, at Brookhaven Healthcare in West Plains, Mo.
He graduated from Texas Technological University in 1950 with a B.S. in business.

He served his country during the Korean conflict in Japan in the Army Counterintelligence Corps. When he returned home, he worked with the newspaper and radio station in Plainview, where he met and married Sue Carol Chapman. They were married 56 years. They had three children, Dr. James Lee Grigsby of Alamosa, Colo., Susan Hill of West Plains, and Edward Chapman Grigsby of Dayton, Md.

His wife Sue, his brother Fred Grigsby and wife Dorothy of Wheat Ridge, Colo., three children, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren survive him, as well as several nephews and a niece.

He attended court-reporting school in Plainview and worked in the court system for 36 years in Wyoming and Nebraska. He retired from the First Judicial District Court in Cheyenne, Wyo., in January 1999. He moved to West Plains to enjoy the warmer climate and trout fishing. James loved his dogs and modeling airplanes. He was a long-standing member of the American Modelers Association. He is a member of the United Methodist Church of West Plains.
