Pettit, Vernon

Graveside services for Vernon ?Pig? Pettit, 81, of Gainesville, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Abernathy Cemetery.

Local arrangements are by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.

Mr. Pettit died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002.

He was born Feb. 1, 1921, in Abernathy. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War ll.

He farmed in Abernathy for 23 years before moving to Paris, Texas in 1969 where he was a farm implement dealer.

He retired in 1997 and moved to Gainesville.

On April 8, 1944, he married Eloise Garrett in Abernathy.

Survivors include his wife? a son, Michael Pettit of Ardmore. Okla.; two daughters, Pat Northcutt and Cindi Ward, both of Gainesville; a sister, Tinie Williamson of Graham; nine grandchildren; and five Great- grandchildren.

The Family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
