Obituary

Grace Reba Sturgeon Vessels Perryman, a long-time Plainview bank teller and Pecos native, died in Odessa, Texas, on Jan. 20, 2013. She was born in Mississippi to H.B. Sturgeon and Addie Stewart Sturgeon in 1934. She moved to Pecos as a child. (Her mother married Pecos businessman Al Vessels.) Grace graduated from Pecos High School in 1952. Grace married George (Truit) Perryman in 1955. They were married 50 years and lived in many interesting places with his Army career. They moved to Plainview in 1992. Grace was a popular bank teller at First National Bank (now Wells Fargo) for more than 15 years. When her beloved Truit passed away in 2005, Grace moved nearer to her daughter in Odessa. She enjoyed living at Lincoln Tower. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother, Frank Sturgeon. She is survived by her sister Ann Siebern and husband Paul of Navarre, Fla.; sister Ann Farrell and husband Eddie of Garland; daughter Jeane Wharton and husband Charlie of Jackson, Wyo.; daughter Nancy Perryman-Cobb of Odessa; granddaughters Carrie and Coby Duncan, Amanda and Aaron Brown and Elizabeth Cobb; grandsons Christopher and Renee Cobb and A.J. and Tisa Wharton; four great-grandchildren; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Grace's warm smile, generous spirit and homemade biscuits will be greatly missed. She was a member of the Church of Christ. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Bartley Funeral Home in Plainview. In lieu of flowers, Grace had asked that memorial donations be directed to Cal Farley Boys Ranch/Girlstown or the Mountain States Children's Home.
