Funeral services for George Truit Perryman, 70, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Garland Street Church of Christ with Charlie Wharton of Pierre Church of Christ in Pierre, S.D., officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Perryman died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Amarillo. He was born to Charlie and Myrtle Perryman on March 9, 1935, in Muskogee Okla. He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and received two Purple Hearts. He also served as a Texas Ranger in San Antonio and Houston. He was a graduate of the San Antonio Police Academy where he was president of his class and also served as deputy constable in San Antonio. He lived in Plainview for 17 years, moving here from Hearne where he served as a crime prevention officer. He was a 1994 graduate of Wayland Baptist University. While going to Wayland, he worked under then Sheriff Charles Tue as a dispatcher for the Hale County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Garland Street Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Grace of Plainview; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanie and Charlie Wharton of Pierre, S.D., and Nancy Jane and Terry Cobb of Odessa; two brothers, Leonard Perryman of Grand Prairie and Terry Wayne Strong of Higley, Ariz.; three sisters, Delight Farmer of Wolfforth, Barbara Dugan of Pasadena and Tenna Simmons of Spring; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at Bartley Funeral Home and suggests memorials to Lubbock Children's Home or a favorite charity.
