Obituary

Solano Benny Perez, 79, of Plainview passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Reymundo Manriquez officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the funeral home. Benny was born on July 24, 1934, to Serpio and Lamar Perez in O'Donnell, Texas. He married Margie Rodriguez on Sept. 24, 1991. He is preceded in death by three sons, Sammy Ramirez, Ramiro Perez and Benny Perez; one brother, Raul Perez; two sisters, Amelia Perez and Anita Favila; one grandson, Benny Rodriguez; and two great-grandsons, Eugene and Mark Aguirre. He is survived by his wife Margie of Plainview; four daughters, Lorene Rodriguez of Plainview, Alma Perez of Lubbock, Nancy Alvarado of Shallowater and Brenda Garcia and husband Steve of Lubbock; two sons, Lorenzo Perez and wife Linda of Plainview and Mark Anthony Cardenas and wife Theresa of Lubbock; two brothers, Serpio "Sam" Perez Jr. of Plainview and Johnny Perez of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Gloria Hernandez and husband Jesse of Plainview; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
