Funeral Mass for Bertha B. Perez, 80, of Plainview will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Arsenio Redulla officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Perez died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Lubbock Heart Hospital. She was born June 6, 1929, to Gabriel and Juanita Barrera in Rocksprings, Texas. She attended Rocksprings High School then moved to Plainview in 1969 where she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a nursing assistant and sold Avon, and was a communion minister, church lector and belonged to The Guadalupanas. Survivors include two sons, Daniel Perez of Plainview and Jason Perez of Lubbock; four daughters, Norma Gutierrez of San Antonio, Leticia Huerta of La Brea, Calif., Dianna Sanchez of Floydada and Brenda Solis of Plainview; one brother, Jesus Barrera of Plainview; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband, Emilio Perez; two brothers, Juan and Richard Barrera; three half-brothers, Fidel, Ramon and Modesto Barrera; one sister, Elsa Barrera; and one half-sister, Emma Gonzalez, are deceased.
