Obituary

Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers will host a gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Rosa Pequeno of Plainview this evening with a prayer service beginning at 6:30, followed by a reception. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, in Lake Ridge Chapel with committal in Plainview Memorial Park. Our beloved wife, mother and Nana, Rosa went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2011. Rosa was born Jan. 17, 1944, to the late Luis and Virginia Ruiz in Donna, Texas. On March 10, 1963, she married Henry R. Pequeno in Slaton. They moved to Plainview in 1965. Rosa was a prayer warrior. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, embroidery and shopping for those she loved. She loved talking on the telephone, and if anyone needed to know what the weather was going to be like they would call Rosa, aka "Ron Roberts," as her family lovingly called her. Rosa was a member of First Mexican Baptist Church, Plainview, where she was involved in WMU. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Luis Ruiz Jr., and a sister, Mary Rocha. Rosa is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Henry; a daughter, Diana Pequeno Rodriguez and her husband, Felipe, of Lubbock; a granddaughter, Elisa Beth Cardenas of Lubbock; a beloved little one, Aaron Rodriguez of Lubbock; a sister, Anita Cruz and her husband, Manuel, of Levelland; a brother, Juan Ruiz of Lubbock; numerous nieces and nephews; and two grand-pets, JoJo and Sam. Thank you to all the family, friends and medical staff who cared for our beloved Rosa. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association .
