Obituary

Ida "Lenore" Penton went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 12, 2008, at Covenant Hospital in Plainview at the age of 75. She was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Charles and Naomi Settlemire. She married Willie Penton on Feb. 4, 1984, in Amarillo. She moved from Tempe, Ariz., to Plainview in 1969, then moved to Amarillo in 1981 and back to Plainview in 2004. Survivors include her husband, Willie of Plainview; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Randy and Marsha Cognasi of Prattville, Ala., and Andy and Linda Cognasi of Lubbock; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Cindy and Johnny Cates, Sandy and Larry Keltz and Kandace "Kandy" and Andy Decker, all of Plainview; one stepdaughter, Sleena Hays of Plains; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her parents; sister, Myrtle Harrell; and brother, Robert Settlemire, are deceased. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Bartley Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steve Rogers officiating and Naomi Dudley assisting. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
