Obituary

Funeral services for Mary "Baby' Pena, 58, were at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. John Ohlig, pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and the Rev. Reynaldo Reyes, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Pena passed away on Friday, March 11, 2005, in Lubbock. She was born July 8, 1946, in Plainview to Vincente and Sarah Garcia in Plainview. She worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. for many years and then Kmart in San Angelo for many years. She married Sam Pena, was a good homemaker and devoted her life to her family. Survivors include her husband, Sam Pena of Lubbock; one son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Elena Pena of Plainview; her adoptive mother, Ophelia Sanchez; six sisters, Manuel and Millie Mitchell of Plainview, Mary Karlin of Hays, Kan., Angie and Raul Valdez of Plainview, Anita and Larry Goodrum of Amarillo and Gracie Alegria and Elvira Cruz, both of Corpus Christi; two brothers, John Garcia and Edward Garcia, both of Corpus Christi; two granddaughters, Jessell Pena and Stacy Pena, both of Lubbock; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Aryana.
