She and Abel Pena were married on Aug. 12, 1994, in Plainview. Leticia worked for United Supermarket for 17 years and knew her customers by name. For the past 12 years she was employed at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center. She greatly enjoyed outdoor activities including swimming, boating, and fishing at the lake. Leticia loved to sing and had a wonderful voice. She sang professionally with the U.S. Gospel Singers and with "Los Mensajeros Del Rey." The activity she enjoyed most was the weekly family gatherings at home every Wednesday. Those were special times to her. Leticia had a loving and giving spirit and would give anything she could to someone else, just to see the smile it brought to their faces. Leticia will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Leticia is survived by her husband, Abel Pena; her parents, Nino and Celia Zapata; her sons, Abrhm Cain Pena, Shannon Urrutia and his wife Cristella, Sonny Urrutia and Jessica, and Damian Loza Pena; her sister, Norma Zapata; her brothers Sammy Zapata and his wife Dee, and Nino Zapata Jr.; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of Plainview. She was preceded in death by her brother, Saul Zapata. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Odyssey Hospice and to the staff of Covenant Hospital in Plainview and Lubbock. The family suggests donations in Leticia's name to American Cancer Society , 3411 73rd St., Lubbock, TX 79423, in lieu of flowers. Online condolences may be made at www.lemonsfunerals.com.
