Obituary

H.S. Pearson Was a Resident of Texas 57 Years
H.S. Pearson, a pioneer frontiersman, who has lived in Texas for this past fifty-seven years, died at his home on West Fourth Street at six-thirty o?clock Thursday evening.
Mr. Pearson was born April 7, 1846, in Mississippi and moved to Tex., when he was sixteen years old. A year later, when he was yet under age, he joined the Confederate army and served through the civil war in Walker?s division.
In 1872 he was married to Miss Mary Donaldson. Ten children were born to this union, six of whom are still living.
His first wife died in 1911 and he remarried in 1914 to Mrs. Lizzie Middle, who survives him.
Mr. Pearson has made Plainview his home for the past eighteen years.
The funeral was held at three-thirty Friday afternoon at the Methodist church. Rev. L.N. Lipscomb conducted the services assisted by President G.W. McDonald of Wayland College.
Interment was in the Plainview Cemetery and services at the grave were conducted by the Masonic fraternity of which he was a member. (Plainview Evening Herald, December 11, 1925)
