ABERNATHY - Funeral services for Salina Pearce, 87, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Abernathy First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Lowrie, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pearce Chapel Strip Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Pearce died Monday, March 4, 2002, in Lubbock. She was born May 26, 1914, in Hale Center and had been a lifelong Hale County resident. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was active in the Abernathy PTA and was a Girl Scout leader. On Jan. 26, 1939, she married Chester Pearce in Lubbock. He died March 30, 1992. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janie Sue and Charles Seymour of Lubbock; two brothers, George Smith of Amarillo and Bill Smith of Olton; a sister, Vernice Wheeler of Odessa; and two grandchildren. A daughter, Linda Lou Pearce, died in 1976. The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 411 7th Street, Abernathy, TX 79311 or to Cal Farley?s Boy?s Ranch, 600 W. 11th Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101.
