Payne, Hollis Gene

ABERNATHY- Graveside services for Gene Payne, 71, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Strip-Pearce Chapel with the Rev. Billy Parmer officiating.

Burial arrangements are by Abell Funeral Home.

Mr. Payne died Tuesday, March 13, 2001.

He was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Floyd County. He retired in 1992 from Bamert Seed Company in Muleshoe and moved to Abernathy in 1993. He was a Baptist.

On July 2, 1969, he married Eva Doyce Dobson in Muleshoe.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Payne of Graham and Barry Payne of San Antonio; two daughters, Janice Payne of Lubbock and Laura Strawbride of Graham; three stepdaughters, Betty Springer and Lois Reynolds, both of Abernathy, and Norma Wisenhunt of Orange; a stepson, Archie Dale Cody of California; a brother, C.J. Payne of Kingsland; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
