Obituary

Funeral Mass for Manuel C. Pantoja, 76, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerard Kenney, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Bartley Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Pantoja died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at his residence. He was born Dec. 10, 1927, in Floresville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Plainview from Stockdale in 1977 and managed the Givens Apartments before retiring. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview. On Sept. 11, 1951, he married Pauline Pena in Gonzalez. She died April 30, 1998. Survivors include his mother, Guadalupe Pena of Floresville; two sons, Pedro Manuel Pantoja of Stockdale and Victor Pantoja of Plainview; six daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary and Ralph Trigo of Nixon, Guadalupe Zertuche of Stockdale, Mamie and Chris Pena of Floresville, Margaret Arriola of Tampa, Fla., and Pauline Soto and Rosalinda and Mario Perez, all of Plainview; two sisters, Augustina Arrendondo of Floresville and Jenny Pena of San Antonio; 11 grandsons, Oscar M. Pantoja, Gabriel Pantoja, Daniel Pantoja, Chris Pena Jr., Jeffory Pena, Sergio Zertuche, Bryan Arriola, Paul Henry Arriola, Steve Soto Jr., Luis Soto, Mario Perez Jr.; and 15 granddaughters, Angelica Trigo, Crystal Trigo, Monica Raye, Tiffani Pena, Valeria Pena, Melony Pena, Amanda Arriola, Christina Soto, Cecilia Perez, Cynthia Perez, Vanessa Perez, Elizabeth Pantoja, Victoria Pantoja, Vanessa Pantoja and Aurora Garcia. A grandson, James Trigo, died in November 2003.
