Obituary

Wheeler Palmer of Plainview died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, in Plainview, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2010, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview with Mr. Mike Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. He was born Sept. 23, 1932, in Rawhide, Texas, to Herschel Norris and Parma Lee Wheeler Palmer. He graduated from high school in 1951 in Chicota, Texas. He moved to Kress in 1952 and worked with his father on the family farm. He farmed more than 50 years and was a ginner, part-time for several years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Kress. He married Dolois Wilfong on Feb. 21, 1958, in Kress, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Dolois, of Plain?view; one son, Randy Palmer and his wife, Kelly, of Kress; two daughters, Cindy Barber and her husband, Jim, of Amarillo and Gail Witt and her husband, James of Tulia, seven grandchildren, Rusty Reese of Eldorado, Okla., Rebecca Gates of Amarillo, Ragin Reese and Ralan Reese, both of Plainview, Ryan Isbell of Mahopac, N.Y., and Thomas and Tyler Palmer, of Kress; eight great-grandchildren; two nieces, Linda Holt and Debbie Harrell, both of Louisiana; and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, JoNell Moose. The family suggests memorials to Area Community Hospice, 3109 Olton Road, Ste. C, Plainview, TX 79072.
