Obituary

Willie Ruth Owens, 86, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, following a brief illness. She was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Farrsville, Newton County, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James V. "Ted" Owens, and her parents, William M. and Viola Smith Denman. Willie is survived by two daughters, Mary Margaret Sharpe and her husband, Ken, of Edmond, Okla., and Dr. Estelle Owens of Plainview; her son, Bo Owens and his wife, Sheri, of Temple; two grandchildren, Amanda Owens of Amberg, Germany, and Jake Owens of Fort Worth; and her sister and brother-in-law, Margarette and W.H. Gunter of Burkeville, Texas. Because of her great love of animals and the outdoors and of Wayland Baptist University, the family suggests that memorials be made in her name to the Humane Society or to Wayland. Willie led a quiet, graceful life. What she did not express in words was nevertheless always felt by her family and friends. Family will receive friends at Lemons Funeral Home from 6-7 p.m. today, Monday, Feb. 11. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home.
