Obituary

Funeral services for Bonnie Overstreet, 96, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Petersburg First Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Foote, pastor of Colonial Baptist Church in Plainview, and the Rev. Jesse Nave of Petersburg officiating. Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Overstreet died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, in Plainview. She was born Oct. 28, 1912, in Gorman. She married Sherman "L.S." Overstreet on Dec. 20, 1930, in Eastland. He died May 27, 1997. She moved to the Petersburg area from Gorman in 1950 and in 1967 moved into town where she owned and operated Bonnie's Shop from 1968-74. She was a member of Petersburg First Baptist Church and a former member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons and two daughters in law, Leslie and Shirley Overstreet of Petersburg and retired Sgt. Major Gene and Jeanne Overstreet of Seguin; two sisters, Elizabeth Bingham of Gorman and Fay Perrin of Sundown; one sister-in-law, Lorene McCulley of Eastland; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Her son, Jimmy Overstreet, died Jan. 17, 1988. Four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; one brother; and one sister also are deceased.
