Obituary

ABERNATHY - Funeral services for Artie Mitchell Oswalt, 89, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Abernathy Church of Christ with William Eudy and Steve Gant officiating. Burial will be in the Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Oswalt died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, in Lubbock. She was born on March 27, 1912 in Knox County and married Doyle Oswalt on Dec. 17, 1932 in Clovis, NM. He died March 22, 1975. She moved to Abernathy from Lubbock in 1945 and was a member of the Abernathy Garden Club and the Church of Christ. Surviving are two sons, Joe Oswalt and Jerry Oswalt, both of Abernathy; a daughter, Sherley Foster of Levelland; eight greandchildre, Cindy Alexander, Steve Oswalt, Debby Tullis, Jeff Oswalt, Lori Wilson, Raeann Stevens, Alan Foster and Vidkie Dickering; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Children's Home of Lubbock, 4404 Idalou Hwy., Lubbock, TX 79403, or to a favorite charity.
