Ortega, Modesto, Jr.

Funeral Mass for Modesto Ortega Jr., 85, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. John Ohlig, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Home.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel.

Mr. Ortega died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, in Mi Casita Care Center in Lubbock.

He was born Jan. 27, 1918, in Mexico. He was a farmer and member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

He married Ana Maria Fernath in Mexico. She is deceased.

Survivors include two sons, Ramon Ortega of Plainview and Jesus Jose Ortega of Midland; two daughters, Carolina Ortega and Socorro Ortega, both of San Fernando, Calif.; five brothers, Hermanos Ortega of San Jose and Ipolito, Lidia, Magdalena and Elijo Ortega all of Mexico; 19 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
