Obituary
Funeral services for Klyce Ooley, 84, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Ooley died Saturday, April 24, 2004, in Covenant Hospital Plainview. He was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Floyd County. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II from September 1942 to August 1945. He was a farmer and had lived in Plainview since 1957. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was active in Sunday school class and the quartet from Millennium Singers. He also served as bus driver for Wayland athletics for many years and was a member of Good Sams Travel Club. On Jan. 4, 1941, he married Lena Nelson in Floydada. She died Feb. 1, 2002. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jack Ooley of Portland, Ore., and Bill and Beverly Ooley of Minneapolis, Minn.; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Melvin Bennett, Dub Johnson, Don Eversole, Anthony Latta, Bob Pillow, Tony Jones, Tom Marr, Jeff Terrell and Kelvin Tipton. Honorary pallbearers will his Sunday school class. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
