Obituary
Ronnie Lee Onsrud, 47, passed away at home with family and friends around him. He was born in Plainview to Janie and Stuart Onsrud. He graduated from Plainview High School, attended Wayland Baptist University and obtained his nursing degree from South Plains College. He worked many years as a nurse, but by far his favorite was pediatric NICU and as a home health nurse in the Houston and Galveston area. As a home health nurse, he often went above and beyond for his patients and their families and anyone else in need of help. He was always willing to help with anything and would often go without so that he could help someone out. He was gifted to be able to do just about anything, and if it was something he could not do, he knew how to find someone who could. This included inspiring others to better themselves; he encouraged many to go into nursing, often helping pay for their education. He hosted multiple foreign exchange students from Germany, Slovakia and the Netherlands, and took great joy in traveling to visit them in Europe. His greatest passion was for animal rescue. He could not stand to see an animal suffer, often taking them into his own home. His dogs were as important to him as a child would be. He is preceded in death by his mother Janie, and is survived by his best friend and partner of 23 years, Phil Sullivan; his father Stuart Onsrud; two half-brothers, George Kirbo of New Mexico and Steve Kirbo of Austin, and multiple nieces and nephews. Per Ronnie's request, no service will be held, and in lieu of flowers, a donation to your local humane society is requested.
