Obituary

PETERSBURG - Funeral services for Bobby Lee Olive, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church in Abernathy, officiating. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Olive died at 4:41 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, in Littlefield Hospitality House. He was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Silverton. He was a sergeant with the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946, with a tour of duty in the Republic of the Philippines. He worked for Wylie & Son and Wylie L.P. Gas in Petersburg for 45 years as a truck driver and bookkeeper. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Ed Hankins Post 187 of the American Legion in Petersburg. On Nov. 14, 1947, he married Betty Bristow in Plainview. Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Mary Olive of Lubbock and Larry and Elaine Olive of Bedford; one sister, Betty Lou Olive of Silverton; a niece, Becky Rogers of Petersburg; and five grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Petersburg EMS or the Petersburg Library.
