Obituary

Funeral Mass for Abelardo Olbeda, 74, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Reynaldo Reyes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Olbeda died Sunday, April 10, 2005, in Southern Specialty Rehab Center in Lubbock. He was born Aug. 20, 1930, in Falfurrias, to Jose and Cecilia Olbeda. He married Julia Martinez on Sept. 19, 1950, in Portales, N.M. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Anna Perez of Plainview; one son, Adan Olbeda of Petersburg; five sisters, Mariana Bocanegra of McAllen, Eva Vasquez of Mission, Anita Castilla and Lucila Mendez, both of McAllen, and Gregoria Favila of Plainview; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A brother, Adan Oscar Olbeda, and a sister, Juanita Rodriguez, are deceased.
