Graveside services for Winnie Lou Cartwright Noel, 81, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, in Plainview Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Home. David Milstead, family friend, officiated. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 4-5:30 p.m. today. Granny Lou died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, in BSA Hospice in Amarillo, Texas. She was born Sept. 11, 1925, to Lon A. and Gladys Jones Cartwright in Fargo, Wilbarger County, Texas. The family moved to Hale County when she was 6 years old. Winnie Lou graduated from Plainview High School in 1945. She then graduated from Jessie Lee's Beauty School in 1946 and worked with her mother at Mary L. Spence Beauty Shop. She married Alvin H. Noel on Dec. 6, 1947, in Plainview. Winnie Lou was a life member of Plainview PTA, a life member of the VFW auxiliary and an honorary member of the Kress FFA. She belonged to the Plainview Area Bowling Association, Texas State Bowling Association and WIBC congress. She bowled for many years on the Early Bird and Area Leagues in Plainview and state and national tournaments. She managed the American Legion Swimming Pool for 22 years. Survivors include husband Alvin of the home; one daughter, Donice and husband Kim Hays of Kress; and three sons, Randy and wife Karen, Ted and wife Patti, and Terry, all of Plainview. Grandchildren are Lee Bertelson and wife Tanya of Cotton Center, Manda Rosser and husband Wynn of College Station, Kelly Shackelford and husband Kevin of Plainview, Mikel Bechtold and husband Zach of Plainview, Scott Noel and wife Georgi of Fort Worth, and Suzanne Noel of Denton. Great-grandchildren are Kate and Emma Lou Bertelson of Cotton Center; and a brother Bill Cartwright and wife Leona. A brother and sister-in-law, Lon D. and Betty Cartwright, preceded her in death. Pallbearers were Paul Wilson, Melvin Renfro, Alvin Eldred, Karnald Kersh, Gregg Noel and Jeremy Reed. The family suggests memorials to Olivia's Angels, c/o BSA Hospice, P.O.
