Obituary
Memorial services for Jimmie Lee Nixon, 81, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Mark?s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Bruce Green, rector, officiating. Cremains will be interred in the garden at St. Mark?s Episcopal Church. Wood-Dunning Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Nixon died at 6:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born Sept. 23, 1920 in Plainview.
She graduated from Plainview High School and attended Southern Methodist University and the University of Colorado at Boulder. She was a voice major and member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She married John W. Nixon in 1942 in Houston. She lived in Del Rio during World War II where her husband served as a pilot in the Air Force. They moved back to Plainview and farmed in the Providence community until his death on Aug. 26, 1965. She was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church an an early member of Junior Service League and a lifelong Democrat. She also was a member of St. Mark?s Episcopal Church and Women of St. Mark?s Episcopal Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Nanette Pullen of Plainview; a son, Ned Nixon of White Fish, Mont.; a sister, Juanita Taegel of Plainview; seven grandchildren, Ned Nixon Jr. and wife Kathleen, Tommy Nixon and wife Katie, Keely Patton and husband Trevor, Kelsey Nixon, Brad Pullen and wife Jodi, John Pullen and Lee Pullen; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to St. Mark?s Episcopal Church, Prairie House Living Center or a favorite charity.
