Obituary
Ruby Nichols, 90, of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at Kornerstone Chapel with Rev. Richard Dickerson of First Baptist Church in Stonewall, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in the Plainview Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Nichols was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Ballinger, Texas, to William Wilber and Una Culbert Johnson. She was the sixth of 10 children. She accepted the Lord and was baptized in Broadway Church of Christ, Lubbock, Texas, and was a member of the Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ in Plainview. She was a loving and giving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great-grandmother, a homemaker and businesswoman. She was involved in retail sales and was a partner in a cotton brokerage firm. She married Edwin G. Nichols on Jan. 31, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cecilia White, a granddaughter, Brittnie Welch, her parents and eight brothers and sisters. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Ed Nichols Jr. of Amarillo, Mark Nichols and his wife Margi of Lockhart and a daughter Sandi Ray of Plainview, a sister, Opal Conn of Drain, Oregon, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
