Graveside services for Bertha Neis, 94, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Abernathy Cemetery with the Rev. Darrell Blevins officiating.

Burial arrangements are by Abell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Neis died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, in Lubbock.

She was born Dec. 20, 1909, in Brownwood. She moved to Abernathy in 1935 from Clovis N.M., and on Nov. 1935, she married Ernest Lorenzo Neis in Abernathy. She worked as a custodian with her husband at the Abernathy ISD. He died Jan. 6, 1992.

Survivors include a son, James Harold Neis of Yukon, Okla.; two daughters, Ernestine Harrel of Abernathy and Maybell Perkins of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

A grandson, Dwayne Blevins, died in 1996 and a son-in-law, Delbert Perkins, died in 2004.

The family suggests memorials to the Abernathy Cemetery Association or to a favorite charity.
