Obituary

Funeral services for Joaquin Nava Sr., 83, were at 10 a.m. today in Templo Elim Worship Center with Roger Munoz, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Nava died at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2002, in All Saints Episcopal Hospital in Fort Worth. He was born March 22, 1918, in Beeville and married Maria Nava on Oct. 30, 1948, in Sinton. She is deceased. He moved to Plainview in 1964 and worked at United Farm Industries Cotton Gin, and also did yard work. He was a member of Templo Elim Worship Center. Survivors include a daughter, Consuelo Gonzales of Arlington; a son, Joaquin Nava Jr. of Plainview; three sisters, Reginia Carizales, Caroleta Orosco, Manuela Mesa, all of Sinton; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Rosie Munoz; eight brothers; and a granddaughter, Mary Ann Gonzales Salizar, are deceased.
