Obituary

Funeral services for Betty Jean Nails, 66, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. M.L. White, United Baptist Church of Plainview, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Home. Mrs. Nails died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, in Vista Care Center of Carrillon of Lubbock. She was born Oct. 15, 1941, in Carthage to L.C. and Elzira Carr. She attended schools in Floydada. She worked for Nichols Hospital and Mr. T's Cleaners. She was a member of United Baptist Church for 43 years. She was past president of the Mission and was in the choir. Survivors include her husband, Charles Nails of Plainview; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Peggy and Jerry Walker of Plainview, Tammy and Anthony Miles of Denver, Colo., and Donna and Dwight Whitlock of Dallas; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Charles and Norma Nails Jr. of Cedar Park and Damien Dorral and Belinda Nails of Plainview; two stepdaughters and one stepson-in-law, Sherry Diane and Waymon Harvey and Angelia Renee Nails, all of Dallas; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, L.C. Carr and Kimberly Carr of Kyle, Leonard Carr of Dallas, Arvis and Diane Byrd of Carthage; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Ella Ree Carr of California, Evon and Lewis Bradley of Dallas, Lillie and Kenneth Hightower of Petersburg, Artella Seth of Littlefield, Avis and Charles Croff of Lubbock and Murlene and Wayne Kemp of Arlington; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Odom and Shirley Nelms; one granddaughter, Kierra Taylor, and one great-grandson, Javon Tolson, are deceased.
