Obituary
Sue Mulkey, 73, a special, sweet spirit so free of pain, went to be with our Heavenly Father, Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at First Church of the Nazarene in Plainview with Pastor Doug Yates officiating. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Etta "Sue" Lillian Mulkey was born May 11, 1939, in Hansford, W.Va., to John and Freida (Summerfield) Mitchell and graduated from East Bank High School in 1957. Sue married the love of her life, Fred Mulkey, on Dec. 22, 1956, who preceded her to Heaven on April 30, 1989. Sue was a collector of friends and had a very sweet spirit to all who knew her. She loved all, and was loved by many in return. Sue worked in many jobs, and she touched a lot of lives in every aspect of her life. "To die is gain." Sue is survived by her children; Yvonne Schank of Temple, Mary Ann Thurmond of Lubbock; Lynda Stewart and her husband, Ronnie, of South Plains; Fred Mulkey and his wife, Janice; Kim Wall and her husband, Larry; John Mulkey and his wife, Donna; and Lonnie Perkins, all of Plainview; one brother, Larry Mitchell and his wife, Linda, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 20 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Sue also was preceded in death by her parents; 11 brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Bryce Lee Dare.
