Morgan, R.E., Mrs.(Evelyn Monroe)

Kress-- Funeral services for Evelyn Morgan, 77, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jay Simpson, pastor, officating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview.

Mrs. Morgan died at 7:21 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in Covenant Hospital Plainview after a lengthy illness.

She was born March 6, 1926, in Hedley, the daugther of Melvin and Esther Monroe. She grew up and attended schools in Hedley and later moved to the Cousins community, west of Finney, with her parents.

She lived in Swisher and Hale counties most of her life. She had been a member of First Baptist Church since 1949 and taught Sunday school and GA's. She also was involved in the 4-H activities of her children.

On Aug. 30, 1941, she married R.E. Morgan in Finney. He died Oct. 21, 1997.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lynette and Calvin Foster of Kress; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Debbie Morgan of Birmingham, Ala., and Russell and Lisa Morgan of Fomey; three sisters, Opal Messer of Clarendon, Mary Lou Keisling of Dumas and Jo Ann Felder of Sunray; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A son, Kent Dewayne Morgan, her parents and three brothers, Carroll, Elize and Don Monroe, are deceased.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
