After working for his parents at their Cloverlake Dairy for two years, Lucian moved to Austin where he attended the University Of Texas School Of Law, earning a L.L.D degree with the highest honors in 1935. His 1935 classmates, unbeknownst to him, nominated him president of the Law School Association and he was unanimously elected. That same year he served on the Law Review. A respected member of his profession, Lucian served in all offices of the Probate, Trust and Property Section of the State Bar of Texas, including chairman and editor of its newsletter. He also served on the editorial board, which published Texas Estate Administration and wrote an article for the popular How to Live - and Die - With Texas Probate. Morehead considered being a member of the National Conference of Commissioners on the Uniform State Laws - which consists of a few members from each state and whose purpose is to promote uniformity in many areas of state laws, and writing uniform laws on these subjects - one of his most prestigious positions. He was a charter member and sustaining Life Member of the Texas Bar Foundation, a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas and a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. For distinguishing himself in "his profession, for his devoted service to his country and his Christian faith, and for loyalty to Wayland Baptist University," the Association of Former Students honored Lucian Morehead with the Distinguished Benefactor Alumni Award for 2002. Additionally, Morehead supported his beloved Baylor Bears since his graduation. As a member of the Ex-Students Association, he was on the board of directors for his district. In August 2010, Baylor recognized Lucian's generosity to the University throughout the years with a bronze plaque. He established an athletic scholarship in his name, and was a season football ticketholder at his death. He is the only alum who has contributed to every Baylor team excellence fund, as well as funding and benefitting Baylor athletics. He quietly stands as one of Baylor's leading donors to Baylor athletics. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Athletic Excellence Club, the1845 Society, the Baylor Bear Foundation, the Old Main Society and the Guardian Angels for the Armstrong-Browning Library. The Baylor Fight Song may be the only tune he has ever been heard to sing! Lucian became a member of the Baptist Church in 1925.
