Obituary

Thelma V. George Moore, 93, died at her home after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, in Plainview. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, in Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Randy Noel officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at the funeral home. Mrs. Moore was born Nov. 14, 1921, in Dickens County, Texas, to E.V. and Alma George. She graduated from high school at Union, a community in Terry County, in 1940. Thelma married Henry Moore in Littlefield, Texas, on April 25, 1941. She spent some time in California while Henry was in the Navy during WWII. After the war, they moved to Plainview in 1946 where they owned and operated OK Radio & TV Company from 1946-2005 when they retired. Thelma was a longtime member of College Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry; brothers-in-law, Ralph Murry, Jack (Nell) Moore, Jim (Hetty) Moore, FJ (Sylvia) Moore, Louis (Lahoma) Moore, Edwin Izora Moore, Byron Moore; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Perry) Clark, Pauline (Elvin) Puckett and two great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Robert (Shirley) Moore of Plainview and Wayne (Myrna) Moore of Plainview; two daughters, Henriette (Alvin) Eldred of Plainview and Karen (Randy) Noel of Plainview; one sister, Pauline Murry of Brownfield; one brother, Dale (Trucene) George of Brownfield; brother-in-law Joe (Joyce) Moore of Houston; sister-in-law Esteene Moore of Grapeland; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregivers Jean Williams and Hallie Boggs. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society of Gideon's International.
