Obituary

Henry David Moore, 88, passed from this life on Feb. 5, 2007, at his home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Moore was born June 5, 1918, at Alto, Texas, to Frank and Ira Johnston Moore. He was the sixth of 12 children. He attended schools in Fluvanna, Quemado, New Mexico and graduated from high school in Springerville, Ariz. Mr. Moore married Thelma George in Levelland on April 20, 1941. A few months later, he joined the Navy and served in the South Pacific during WWII. He served on the USS Antares and USS Kenmore from 1941-45 as a radio operator. After the war, the Moores moved to Plainview and in January 1946, O.K. Radio was opened. Mr. and Mrs. Moore operated this business together for 59 years. Through the years, they won many awards and trips as distinguished dealers of RCA, Zenith and Whirlpool. On Sept. 1, 2005, the Moores sold the business to their sons, Robert and Wayne. He is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Robert Moore and wife, Shirley Rogers, and Wayne Moore, both of Plainview; two daughters, Henriette Eldred and husband, Alvin, and Karen Noel and husband, Randy, both of Plainview; one brother, Joe Moore and wife, Joyce of Houston; a sister-in-law, Esteene Moore of Grapeland; eight grandchildren, Vicki and Chris Kupko of Monument, Colo., Jana Smith of Lubbock, Rhonda and Troy Mordhorst of Sioux City, Iowa, Keila and Shawn Cude of Munday, John and Susan Moore of Belton, Robie and Tim George of Childress, Kelly and Kevin Shackelford of Plainview and Mikel and Zach Bechtold of Plainview; and 18 great-grandchildren. A visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
