Obituary

Roger Lynn Mooney, 61, of Plainview passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, in Houston. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Northwest Church of Christ with Mr. Hugh Miller officiating and Mr. Noah Hall assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Mooney was born Dec. 6, 1952, in Winfield, Kan., to Dennis and Betty Lou Mooney. His family moved to Hale Center when he was just 4 years old. He graduated from Hale Center High School and then graduated from TSTI. He married Lynnetta Moore on Feb. 7, 1976, in Plainview. He worked for Gibson's for several years and then Woolco until its closing. He then worked for Kmart before being recruited over to Wal-Mart, where he has worked for the last 26 years. Roger was a true family man and loved to spend time with them. He also loved photography and to go hunting. He was a member of Northwest Church of Christ in Plainview. Roger is survived by his wife Lynnetta Mooney of Plainview; two sons, Brian Mooney and wife Chasity of Kress, Charles Mooney and wife Patty of Plainview; seven grandchildren, Freddie, Landon, Andrew, Joshua, Hannah, Elijah and Madi; his mother, Betty Mooney of Pampa; one brother, Robert Mooney and wife Jaque of Southlake; and a sister, Debbie Neighbors of Miami, Texas.
