Mooney, Dennis O.

HALE CENTER- Funeral services for Dennis Mooney, 75, will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Meacham, Director of Caprock Plains Baptist Area, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home.

Mr. Mooney died Saturday, April 14, 2001, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born July 14, 1925, in Walters, Okla. he served with the U.S. Navy in the V5 program and the 33rd Signal Corps Battalion in 1945 and was in the Occupation Forces in Japan for six months.

He graduated from Oklahoma State University in January 1951 and taught agriculture in Oxford, Kan., until 1957 when he moved to Hale Center he farmed for 17 years in the Mayfield Community and then was employed by the Halfway Research Foundation and later Pioneer Hybrid Seed, Inc. He retired in 1986.

On July 11, 1944, he married Betty Hunt in Walters.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Mooney of Southlake and Roger Mooney of Plainview; a daughter, Deborah Neighbors of Miami, Texas; a brother, Bruce Mooney of Norman, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
