Obituary

Funeral services for Florence Montgomery, 84, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pstor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Montgomery died at 2:46 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2002, in Covenant Hospital Plainview. She was born June 5, 1917, in Lakeview, was raised in that community and attended schools in Floydada. She graduated from West Texas State University and also received her master's degree there. She taught in Glazier, Eastland, Bovina, Shallowater, Panhandle and Plainview and was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Floyd Montgomery on June 11, 1944, in Canyon. He died April 24, 1997. For a number of years, they conducted weekly church services at several nursing homes, including Care Inn where she had been a resident for several years. Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
